Vitamins & Vixens… Eat Like A Super Hero

I’ve always wanted to dress up like Wonder Woman for Halloween. I should definitely put that on my “Bucket List”.
It takes effort to look hot, be fit and rock a costume. People can say whatever they want to say about Female Superheroes, but I believe those girls eat a healthy diet, work out and aren’t vitamin deficient!
So let’s separate fiction from fact about Vitamins. Vitamins are substances that your body needs to grow and make leaps & bounds. I remember taking my purple Flintstone Vitamins back in the day. I read in a Fashion magazine that Christina Aguilera requested Flintstone Vitamins be delivered to her dressing room. Creature of habit! Today, I’d request the new Gummy Vitamins.
Enough about me what about you?
- Are you taking your vitamins every day?
- Do you ever forget to take your vitamins?
- Do you even know why we have to take vitamins?
Vitamins come from Mother Nature; she’s the Power Source for ALL Female (and male) Superheroes!
There are 13 vitamins your body needs to keep you strong, sexy & healthy. They are vitamins A, C, D, E, K and the B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12 and folate).
You can usually get all your vitamins from the foods you eat. Your body can also make vitamins D and K. If you’re lifting weights and wish to flaunt your Feminine Power, you may need extra iron, omegas & calcium.
The Vegan Vixens may need to take a vitamin B12 supplement. The best way to get enough vitamins is to eat a balanced diet with a variety of foods. In some cases, you may need to take a daily multivitamin for optimal health. However, high doses of some vitamins can make you sick.
There are many articles disputing vitamins. I’m not a nutritionist, I was just schooled about antioxidants by a well known scientist who “jet sets” around the world doing double blind studies.
Hands down, unequivocally, no one is disputing the health benefits of fruits and vegetables, which are super-rich in antioxidants, as well as other nutrients you just can’t find in pill form.
I see high ORAC scores thrown around (like clothes on a clearance rack) in vitamins, chocolate & other edible goods, but buyer beware, you may not be getting what you paid for. If there’s no clinical data supporting how those ORACs perform on a cellular level, you could very well be hoodwinked.
Please repeat after me: A vitamin a day does not replace the nutrients that are naturally found in fruits or vegetables every day.
It’s like a fake Hermes Birken Handbag–and let’s face it, if you can afford it, nothing beats the authenticity of the original.
What Female Superhero are you going to be for Halloween?
